Beverlywood Swim School

Lessons

  • Beverlywood Swim School, formally Crystal Scarborough Swim School was established in 1951. We specialize in Private Lessons only. Each lesson is customized per student (infant, toddler, child or adult).
  • We teach everyone “from the womb to the tomb”
  • Lessons are 20 minutes in length and are sold in a series of FIVE. A series of five lessons is $160.00 and must be paid for in advance.
  • We accept cash, checks, and credit cards.
  • Registration fee of $20.00 per family every calendar year.
  • People taking at least one lesson per week may use our facilities for practice. Practice is, however, limited to one hour per day.
  • Siblings and guests of registered customers pay $5.00 each for recreation swimming.
  • Instructors teach lessons by our “Swim School Clock”.

Cancellation of lessons must be made at least two hours prior to the scheduled lesson. A no show will be charged to your account.

  • Excessive cancellations will result in removal from schedule.
  • NO REFUNDS: Unused lessons will be honored until the end of the next year.
  • Swimming caps are required of everyone in the pool.
  • Any child that is not potty trained must wear a REUSABLE swim diaper.
  • In the event that your instructor is absent, another teacher will give the lesson.
  • The “Swim School Clock” runs ten minutes slow. If anyone is ever running a few minutes late they will have that grace period to ensure they still get a full twenty minute lesson.
  • A fee of $25 will be assessed on any returned checks.

We do not allow parents to be in the water while the child is having his/her lesson. We strongly recommend, however, that parents take the time to practice with their child after the lesson is over. Please watch what the teacher is doing during the lesson and reinforce it during practice. If in doubt, please ask the teacher to instruct you.

Crystal Scarborough Method

We use the Crystal Scarborough Method. You will note that we use fins and arm floats.

The Fins will enable your child to achieve strong kick.

Arm Floats give your child confidence to stay afloat even on the first lesson.

Arm Floats are slowly deflated and removed when the teacher feels that your child is not dependent on them anymore.

The use of FINS and ARM FLOATS are very important and we recommend that you purchase them.

They are available in our office in addition to other water gear.

Fins and Arm Floats

We carry exclusively Bema Schwimmflugel arm floats, and Fishtail Fins. The reason for using the floateez and fins is to give your child confidence, independance, and strength while teaching your child to swim.

For more information on how we use arm floats and fins, read about our teaching method, the Crystal Scarborough Method.
